Two-factor authentication (2FA)

What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication adds an extra level of security when you sign in to the trading platform from either your computer or mobile device. It is designed to help prevent unauthorised users from accessing your account with a stolen password

How does two-factor authentication work?

We recommend users with smartphones use Google Authenticator to generate verification codes instantly to sign in to their fxTrade account. After you sign in with your current password, you will be required to request a verification code from your mobile phone and type this short number as part of the sign-in process.

What is Google authenticator?

Google Authenticator is a mobile application that allows you to generate verification codes on your smartphone without a network connection. Google Authenticator is the best option if you have a smartphone or tablet (Blackberry, iPhone 3+ and Android). Note: authentication can only be configured for one device.

• Google Authenticator is available for Blackberry, iPhone 3+ and Android phones and most tablets. Download the Google Authenticator app from your devices app store.

• Do not use the browser's "back" button during the setup process. If you do, the OTP won't work and you will be required to rescan the QR code, or resend the email.

How to set up two-factor authentication with Google authenticator:

• Click on the link to get started -

• On the My fxTrade Account page, click on 'Configure Two-factor Authentication for Google Authenticator' and follow the instructions.

After you have configured your account for two-factor authentication, each time you log in to the OANDA trading platform, you will be asked to enter the new verification code from your smartphone.
